Looking to book rather than read? See exotic car rental in Clearwater for the live fleet, daily rates and delivery.
The Phillies arrive at BayCare Ballpark in late February and Clearwater is full until the end of March: the hotels, the beach garages, and our calendar. This is how to have the right car for a spring-training week, what goes first, and how the day works between the ballpark and the beach.
What fills first in March
The Corvette C8 at $399 is the spring-training car and the first to go: roof panel off for the drive to the ballpark, a daily rate that leaves room for tickets, and a back-of-the-lot presence that fits the crowd. The Porsche 911 Targa 4S at $799 goes second, to couples who want the roof open on Gulf Boulevard after the game and closed when the afternoon storm arrives. The BMW M4 at $499 and the X5 M60i at $449 are the sensible bookings for a group of friends. The Huracán EVO Spyder and the Urus go to the people doing the beach rather than the baseball.
BayCare Ballpark and the beach
The ballpark is on US 19 at Drew Street, fifteen minutes from the beach and ten from PIE. Game-day parking is paved and flat, fine for every car in the fleet; arrive an hour before first pitch or the lots are full. After the game the drive is Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard to the Memorial Causeway and onto the beach, where the hotel valet takes the car. Dunedin, where the Blue Jays train, is fifteen minutes up Alternate 19 for a second game.

The rate does not rise in March; the availability falls. A week is close to 30% below seven daily rates, which is the shape of most spring-training bookings.
The day, planned
Morning: the Dunedin Causeway to Honeymoon Island with the roof off, before the beach traffic. Early afternoon: the game. Late afternoon: Gulf Boulevard south to Indian Rocks for the sunset. Dinner on the beach with the car at the valet. It all fits the daily allowance, and the car is back at the hotel for the next day's game.
Requirements
You must be 21 or older with a valid driver's licence, proof of full-coverage insurance that extends to a vehicle of this value, and a major credit card in your own name. International licences are accepted with a passport. A refundable security hold is placed on the card at handover and released after the car is returned and inspected; the figure depends on the car and is confirmed in writing before you pay anything.
Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should I book for spring training?
Three to four weeks for the Corvette, the Porsche and the BMW M cars; four to six for the Lamborghini and the Ferrari. March is the busiest month on Clearwater Beach.
Is parking at BayCare Ballpark a problem for a low car?
No. The lots are paved and flat. Arrive early on game days; the lots fill an hour before first pitch.
Can I have the car delivered to the hotel rather than the airport?
Yes, to any hotel on the beach or in Clearwater, or curbside at PIE, which is ten minutes from the ballpark.
What is the best car for a baseball week?
The Corvette C8 for value and the roof panel, the 911 Targa for all-weather open top, the X5 M60i if there are four of you going to the game.
