Five things, and none of them are complicated. This is what we check before a Lamborghini, a Ferrari or an Escalade is delivered to a house in Alamo Heights or to the curb at SAT, and why.
1. Age
21 or older for the 2024 Mercedes C300, the BMWs, the three Corvettes, the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 and the 2021 Porsche 911 Targa, the GLEs, the 2022 Mercedes G63 AMG (Brabus Kit), the Escalades, the 2024 Lotus Emira and the 2020 Mercedes GLS600 Maybach. 25 or older for the 2022 Lamborghini Urus, the Huracáns, the 2021 Ferrari Roma, the Ferrari 296 GTB, the 2020 McLaren 570S and the 2020 Rolls Royce Cullinan. There is no upper age limit.
2. Licence
A valid driver’s licence in your own name. A Texas licence, any US state, or an international one with your passport: Mexican licences are the most common foreign licence we see in San Antonio and they are fine. The licence has to be physically with you at handover; a photo on a phone is not enough.
3. Insurance
Proof of full-coverage insurance that extends to a vehicle of this value. In practice that means your own auto policy, and the question is whether it covers a rental of this price; most US policies with comprehensive and collision do, with limits that matter for the exotics. We carry commercial insurance on every car. If your policy is from outside the US or you are not sure it extends to a rental, say so when you book and we go through it in writing before you fly.
4. The deposit
A refundable hold on a major credit card in your own name, placed before delivery and released after the return inspection. It scales with the car: lower for a C300 or a GLE, highest for the Lamborghinis, the Ferraris, the McLaren and the Cullinan. The exact figure is in your written confirmation. Debit cards do not work for the hold.
5. The handover
Ten minutes. We check the licence and the card, walk around the car together with photos, show you the drive modes and, on the low cars, the nose lift and the two downtown garages where you will need it. Then it is yours. On return we do the same walk-around; if it comes back as it left, the hold is released and that is the end of it.
What is not required
You do not need to come to an office: there is none, the car comes to you. You do not need to pay to reserve: the hold is taken before delivery, not at booking. You do not need to refuel at a specific station; bring it back at the level it left and you are done.

Can I rent an exotic car in San Antonio at 21?

When is the deposit released?
After the car is returned and inspected, usually within a few business days depending on your card issuer. It is a hold, not a charge.
