What the 2020 McLaren 570S is for in Jacksonville

The 2020 McLaren 570S is rented in Jacksonville for the occasion, not the errand: the proposal at the Ponte Vedra Inn, the fortieth, the bachelor weekend, the Jaguars home game that deserves an entrance, THE PLAYERS week, the Florida-Georgia weekend. It arrives detailed and full, and we walk you through the drive modes, the nose lift and the roof before we leave.

The 570S is the lightest exotic we bring to Jacksonville and the one that makes the most sense on the empty stretch of A1A between Vilano Beach and Ponte Vedra.

Nobody in Jacksonville rents a McLaren to commute; they rent it for the proposal at the Ponte Vedra Inn, the fortieth birthday, or the Jaguars home weekend that deserves an entrance.

The car at a glance

• Engine and power: a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, 562 hp, a carbon-fibre tub and dihedral doors.
• Seats: 2. Luggage: about 1 bag.
• Minimum age: 25. Daily rate: $1,195.
• Delivery: included across the Jacksonville metro and at JAX.

The price and what it includes

$1,195 a day. Three days or more take about 15% off and a full week close to 30%; the exact figure comes with your dates. The rate includes delivery and collection anywhere in Jacksonville, the Beaches, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, Orange Park and Amelia Island, curbside service at JAX, insurance on the vehicle, roadside assistance for the whole rental and a daily mileage allowance. The car arrives detailed and full. Not included: fuel, tolls and the refundable security hold, which is confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

Where we deliver the 2020 McLaren 570S in Jacksonville

Ponte Vedra Beach and the Beaches first, then St. Augustine, Amelia Island, the Southbank and Riverside hotels, San Marco, the Town Center, and the arrivals curb at JAX. Delivery inside the Jacksonville metro is included in the rate; for addresses further out, Palm Coast or Brunswick for example, we quote the delivery with your dates. Because the car comes from Orlando, same-day delivery in Jacksonville is not always possible: tell us the dates as early as you can and we confirm the slot by phone.

The drive

A1A from Ponte Vedra to St. Augustine is the drive the exotics are rented for, early, before the beach traffic. Amelia Island by the Mayport ferry and Heckscher Drive is the second day. Both are well inside the allowance; longer routes are quoted up front.

Pick-up and return

Handover takes about ten minutes: licence and card, a walk-around with photographs on both sides, the drive modes and anything particular to the car, and the keys. At the end we collect where you tell us — the house, the hotel or the departures curb at JAX — and do the same walk-around before releasing the hold. There is no office to find and no line to stand in.

Requirements and deposit

You must be 25 or older with a valid driver’s licence, proof of full-coverage insurance that extends to a vehicle of this value and a major credit card in your own name. International licences are accepted with a passport. The deposit is a refundable hold on the card, released after the return inspection; the amount depends on the car and is confirmed in writing before delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent the 2020 McLaren 570S in Jacksonville?

$1,195 a day, the same rate as Orlando because the car is delivered from our Orlando base. Three days or more take about 15% off the daily rate and a full week close to 30%. Delivery and collection across Jacksonville, the Beaches, Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine, and curbside at JAX, are included.

Do you deliver the 2020 McLaren 570S to Jacksonville International Airport?

Yes. Curbside at JAX arrivals with your flight tracked, so a late landing never costs you the car. No counter, no shuttle, no airport fee. Collection at departures works the same way.

What is the minimum age to rent it?

25. You also need a valid driver’s licence, proof of full-coverage insurance that extends to a vehicle of this value and a major credit card in your own name. International licences are accepted with a passport.

Is there a mileage limit in Jacksonville?

There is a daily allowance that covers normal Jacksonville driving, including the A1A run to St. Augustine and the day on Amelia Island. Tell us the route when you book and we confirm the allowance in writing; longer trips are quoted up front.

How far ahead should I book for a Jaguars weekend or THE PLAYERS?

Weeks. The Florida-Georgia weekend, THE PLAYERS in March and the Jaguars home games are the dates Jacksonville sells out first, and the cars come up from Orlando on a schedule. For an ordinary week, a few days is usually enough.
