The 570S is the most focused car in the Austin fleet. RR 2222 from Loop 360 west is the drive people remember: tight, climbing, properly technical, with the Pennybacker Bridge view on the way out. Lime Creek Road along Lake Travis is slower and prettier. Hamilton Pool Road out to Dripping Springs is the long one, and the Salt Lick in Driftwood is the usual stop.

What it is like

• The doors. They go up and out, and you will not get in or out of it anywhere without an audience.
• Visibility. Better than any other supercar, which matters on a narrow Hill Country road.
• The ride. McLaren's hydraulic suspension means it is genuinely usable on Austin's broken pavement, unlike most of its rivals.
• Ground clearance. It has a nose lift, and you will want it for the driveways in West Lake Hills.
